Abstract: A radical renovation of Gasunies gas export metering stations is planned. Considerations enabling a suitable choice to be made for the new flow metering system are given. At some points additional research was necessary. Field and lab. tests were performed on orifice plates showing that installation effects, specifically the wall roughness, result in too large an uncertainty. After careful comparison of technical and economical aspects the turbine meter is favoured to serve as the primary flow measurement device. A secondary meter is planned to check the performance of the primary flow measurement. Tests were carried out on vortex and ultrasonic meters in order to study their ability to serve as this back-up flow meter.
